Hi, we’re

Daniel & Yelena!

We met, dated, got engaged and married within six months. We talked about each of the questions included in The Dating Guide before we got married and we think it is a major reason why we were able to choose each other so easily and now have a beautiful, Godly, strong marriage (also, a lot of prayer & wise counsel!).

Neither of us did any casual dating before we got married, but instead prayed and waited for God’s provision and timing while we stayed busy going to school, working, serving in our local church, and letting God prepare us for each other.

So, when we met at ages 26 (Daniel) and 29 (Yelena) and started to get to know each other, we knew what we wanted out of a marriage and how to “vet” each other to determine if we would be equally yoked.

We are so passionate about equipping young people with the resources and knowledge to prepare for a Godly marriage. That’s what lead us to start a ministry focused on helping Christians find a spouse, Seek in Faith, through which we lead dating seminars for youth groups around the country.

For our day jobs, Daniel works in marketing and sales for John Deere and Yelena is a tax attorney at an accounting firm. We live in Indiana with our son, Levi, and we are so excited to come alongside you in your search for a Godly mate!

 FAQs

  • Ideally, yes! The Dating Guide includes worksheets for personal reflection in addition to the questions you’ll discuss together. We recommend you each get a copy of the guide so you can write your thoughts in your own copies.

Also, if you choose to part ways and decide to not get engaged after these conversations, you’ll each have a copy for your next relationship :)

  • These questions will help you vet each other as potential future spouses & determine if you’re compatible for marriage. After all, if you’re dating with the intention of marriage, you are seeking to fill the most important role in your life: the person who, God willing, you’ll spend a lifetime with and who will be the parent to any children God may give you. So, of course, you want the best candidate to fill the role. This guide is your interview manual to start the conversations that will help prepare you for a strong, Godly marriage.

  • It’s never too early to start having having these conversations. Dating should be fun and romantic, but for Christians, it should also be done in reverence and wisdom. That means prayerfully having the conversations to determine if you two are headed towards marriage and what marriage to each other would look like. We created The Dating Guide to help you start these conversations at any point in your relationship.

  • It’s not about the pages, but the value you get from having these conversations. Because time is money - we want to help you not your waste time dating the wrong people. Also, being married to someone you’re not equally yoked with makes for a hard life. These conversations will help you make sure you’re compatible for marriage.

  • Yes! These questions are just as much to help you vet the person you’re dating as they are to help you get clarity on what you want in a future spouse and marriage, what you bring to a relationship, and areas were you can maybe prepare more for marriage. That way, when you do meet someone, you know exactly what you’re looking for and if that person is compatible with what you’re praying for in a spouse and marriage.
